I chose this workcamp because I am very interested in this period of history. I didn’t meet anybody yet who were in a concentration camp, so before I get to know one, I couldn‘t image this awful part of the history. Spain didn‘t participate in the Second World War because it had another war before. This is the reason I only know it from books and articles. Spain suffered a difficult period too with Franco but a lot of old people don‘t think it was a bad time. I‘m confused because my grandmother thinks that Franco was a good person but I learned he was a dictator and Spain didn‘t have freedom while he governed. Nowadays in my country we don‘t have antisemitic problems with jewish people but we have it with islamistic people and also black people. A lot of people think that they are not allowed to be in Spain only because they have a different religion or a different skin colour. They are confused, of course, but sometimes the neonazis pursue them and hit them. In Spain it is difficult to find a work and many people think that this is because the immigrants stole Spanish jobs. The experience taking part in this camp will help me to meet people relationed with the concentration camps and with the nazi period.
